What is a Spanish collective agreement?

In Spain, pay and working conditions in most sectors are set by collective agreements negotiated between trade unions and employers. Sector agreements negotiated under the Workers’ Statute (Estatuto de los Trabajadores) apply to every company and employee within their scope —by sector and territory— and are published in the official gazettes (the BOE and the regional and provincial bulletins). If your company employs staff in Spain, the applicable agreement usually sets their minimum salary and much of their working conditions.
